Jane Riles is a San Diego Artist who has been painting for forty-three
years. Her watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings are frequently shown
at The San Diego Art Institute, The Escondido Arts Gallery, The San
Diego Watercolor Society, and The East West Gallery in La Costa. Her
works have won numerous awards. She has had four solo shows in California,
one in Illinois and three in Lyon, France.
She is currently Vice-President of the San Diego Watercolor Society
and member of The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, Point Loma
Artists and The La Jolla Art Association.
Jane has had a diverse art training. She studied painting at Mary Washington
College, The Peoria Art Center, The Northwest School of Art,The University
of Illinois and The Athenaeum. She was greatly influenced by two master
painters, Emil Schnelock and Nicoli Ziroli. She attributes a new direction
and inspiration in her work to Ernest Velardi, Professor Emeritus of
Art, at California State University Northridge. Jane also hold a Ph.D.
in Romance Languages from the University of Oregon
